Artist Statement
CRITICAL DECORATION
a response to criminal ornament
Players activate the stage,
upright and virtuous.
Potential has a partner.
Degeneration is part of the cycle,
decadence the sibling of decay.
Assembling and disassembling diagrams of faith and desire.
Moral justification for shiny objects,
reflecting implied histories.
Live still lifes.
Borrowed signs rendered fanciful,
transcending material authority.
Precariously precious.

Originally inspired by vague descriptions of lost Fabregè eggs.
Eventually part of an installation of 30 pieces in a created environment.

Installation of lost/found precious metal and stones.

Contextualized gold.

From a series site specific wallpapers.
Attempting to extend space through the walls, critical decoration.

An attempt to block electromagnetic fields (cell phone reception) using a thin web of stainless steel wire which grew over a three week period.
