Artist Statement
I paint my fantasies – rather, I direct them through painting.  With hopeless romance I edit my thoughts, making visible the dramatized emotional story of being myself.   My work stages the profound implication of viewer and maker together.  The audience waits for that silver screen moment felt a million times before.  With rigor the director pushes, but never settles.  The break bell rings and the actors scatter off, leaving him alone under the spotlight, wondering whether the story needs its ending.

My paintings are incomplete stories writing themselves, moving at the speed of passion.  I’m caught in the color and texture of a mess on the ground, paint covering walls, dripping from the sky.  Empowered by its gift I am able to develop portraits of the naive excited burning of new lust, or bitter love lost.  I am mesmerized by its beauty and forever challenged by its possibility.
