Artist Statement
My most current series of short, stop animation videos that are being developed for a community access cable program. This multi-part series is based on ideas about the construction of a community and the plastic characteristics of people.

A playful since of inquiry is employed when building each storyline. My process is an independent initiative that involves writing the scripts, crafting sets, costumes and storyboards. I record my own sound and control lighting. I shoot, edit, and develop these narratives one photographic frame at a time.

This labor intensive body of work began as a response to 70s politics that altered the national perception of women from weak to strong. Todd Haynes’ Karen Carpenter Story, and the Yes Men’s societal toy endeavors compelled me to insert a small voice into a large feminine archetype. My interest in feminine strength has expanded to an obsession with place/ turf, (personal, and cultural). I am learning that these efforts to till a gristle soft, (often invisible) ground employs odd muscles and inadvertently returns mine to a zany conversation about the existence, denial, durability and limits of human strength.
