What is 10%?
A fundraiser to support the individual artist grant program at the RHM Foundation and to establish a year-long fund for art projects that supports the larger community of gay artists.
Do I have to be gay to attend?
No. The party is open to everyone. Please come and support a really worthy nonprofit. Tickets are only twenty bucks.
What's gay about 10%?
All the donated artwork is created by artists who identify as gay.
Why are you calling it 10%?
In the 1940s and 50s, Alfred Kinsey and his team of researchers conducted numerous studies and published two groundbreaking books on human sexuality: Sexual Behavior in the Human Male and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female. His team devised a scale that rated sexuality on a 7-point system. Zero was for heterosexuality; 6 for homosexuality; 7 for asexuality. Conclusions from that research suggested that 10% of the population was "...more or less exclusively homosexual for at least three years between the ages of 16 and 55."
Why not call it 6%?
Gays round up.
Is the art gay?
No. Just the maker. Take a look at the images and see for yourself.
How does a silent auction work?
There will be a pencil and a grid next to each artwork. Simply write in your bid amount. The highest bidder wins.
How does a silent auction end?
At 8:30, the foundation director, carrying a pink highlighter, will make a lap through the party. At each artwork, he'll draw a pink line through the name of the final highest bidder.
What if there are two people standing by one work when the auction ends?
The two (or even five) interested bidders will then be asked to make a best-and-final bid. The highest one gets the apartment—I mean, artwork.
